YT -3000 in a pool

The Weda YT-3000 is designed for very large pools, tanks and reservoirs.

Main features are:

• High capacity pumping with two heavy duty sewage pumps
• Possibility to pump several hundred meters through a four (4) inch discharge hose
• Suction nozzle three (3) meters wide with built-in brushes
• Sprinkler system inside the nozzle improves the cleaning capacity in holes, notches or any uneven part of the bottom surface

Ariel, Sting, Luna, Nepple, Fenah, Lyra, Pichi and Vicky are sharing their 6500 cubic meter Dolphinarium with a Weda W50.

Besides the salt water the pool is also built with a flexible bottom , a real challenge when it comes to the selection of the right poolcleaner.

Weda and Kolmården Zoo in Sweden solved this with a W50 and have shown that the cleaning of the hard-to see areas can be solved by adding an on-board video camera.

Flexible bottoms are becoming more common and Weda is pleased to offer a solution also for these type of pools.

The 3-6 februari the Swedish junior championship was arranged at Sydpoolen in Södertälje. Weda Poolcleaner was one of the sponsors.

To make sure the best possible water quality Weda was asked for cleaning the pools. We cleaned all pools with 3 different high performance poolcleaners.
In the competition pool we used a B600. In the ”warm up” pool we used our newest poolcleaner, the W1000 Gyro. In the adventure pools we used the W50.

The ideal conditions for any pool-cleaning machine is a square-sided pool that is closed for the night. Tropical Island in Germany is exactly the opposite: a recreation centre that is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and a pool with soft shorelines and even some islands! But Weda’s machines have been working hard there every day of the past five years, and they have been doing a great job.

Tropical Island is a perfectly mad idea, but also a wonderful one. A huge former airship hangar has been converted into a giant entertainment and recreation centre that attracts thousands of visitors every day. It’s a place where you can sunbathe, take a walk on the beach or go for a swim in tropical waters. And if the beach isn’t hot enough you can visit a sauna or a treatment area that offers massage and oil treatments of various kinds. You can take a hike through the rain forest, or just chill out on the verandah of a cabin you’ve rented for the evening. There are plenty of bars and restaurants, so you can stay as long as you like until the rain outside stops falling.</p>Tropical Island is located 60 km south west of Berlin, Germany, which makes it much closer than Thailand or the Canary Islands for north Europeans. Visitor numbers have been consistently high since the resort opened for business five years ago. “iT wAs A ChALLeNge for us to find the right cleaner robot for this type of facility,” says Norbert Kanmann, one of five Weda employees working at the Delmenhorst office near Bremen. “Initially, the customer made an enquiry about our fully-automated models since they work so well in most pools. But normal swimming pools have straight edges and the pool is closed at night.”

Norbert Kanmann therefore recommended two Weda B600s and a Weda B680. Both of these models are fully automated, but they can also be controlled manually using remote control units. This means that large parts of the pool can be cleaned in automated mode, while the remaining bits can be controlled manually by an operator. “This is The mosT efficient way of doing the job, and the aim here was to win time. Tropical Island stays open for guests all night long, every day of the year. The cleaning therefore has to be done during a couple of hours each night when most people are asleep.”

Weda’s machines for cleaning pool bottoms have the highest suction and brushing capacity on the market, which was a decisive factor in Tropical Island’s selection of machine. Another key point was the excellent level of service provided by Weda, which has been active on the German market since the mid 1970s and have over 60 machines in operation today in the Berlin area alone. During a cleaning cycle at Tropical Island a machine collects between 30 and 50 kg of sand that drifts from the edge of the beach into the water along with other forms of organic waste commonly found in pools.

“Supplying a site such as Tropical Island requires a very high level of service,” explains Norbert Kanmann. “First off we have to train the customer’s own staff to use our machines. But then we have to take responsibility for maintenance and service. You can’t have any long stoppages at a place like Tropical Island which has so many visitors all day.”
